The Hermit and the Maggot

(A poem inspired by the story “The Hermit and the Two Maggots)

There was this hermit who lived in the slope
Whose only desire is to give the world hope.
Just outside his cave there lived two maggots
Whose only desire is to travel the world.

Then one day they met, the maggots then plead
To turn them into humans and the hermit agreed.
And so they set out and lived among men
To farm and to trade wherever they went.

The two became rich and traveled the world
While the hermit just watched in his own little world.
The two soon forgot the promise they made
And became one of those who do bad and deceive

The time has come for the hermit to settle
The problem that cropped up and be in the middle
He reminded the maggots of the path they should take
But for the two creature, to change is too late.

And so they returned to where they had come
On the ground in the forest away from everyone.
The hermit now realizes it is hard to make a deal
With maggots like them who refuse to be real.

Dilemma

How can I prove that I truly love you ?
When I show my best you give me no chance
You always go away when I’m near you.
No matter how hard I grabbed any chance
Maybe all my efforts are not enough.
For your priceless love that’s beyond compare
That’s why you just give my love a loud laugh
And give me that long and pitying blank stare
Telling me silently “I don’t love you”
So let us just be friends ‘til forever.
It hurts me so much to hear it in lieu
Because my love for you grows so deeper
But I have to pretend that all is fine
When all I want is to shout you are mine.

Reminiscence

Silently she sits near the window
Gazing at the setting sun
The color of the clouds seem to share her feelings
So gloomy and sad and looks as if it cries silently.
And I begin to think of yesteryears
When we are still together
Building our air castles
So full of hopes and dreams, full of laughter as if the day would never end.
But those are all just dreams
Built on glasses and sands
For in a wink of an eye, our castles were shattered.
You left me without any word
Giving me a silent signal that you have to go.
I let you walked away thinking that you will be back
But you never did for silently you are laid to your final rest.
And now I am here alone looking at the sunset
Reminiscing the joys and laughter we shared,
Pleading time to heal my wounded heart
And to erase the pains within me.

A War Within

Boog! Boog! As my heart beats,
It dictates me to love you.
Lovable, loyal and lustful you’re all to me,
But it doesn’t make you adorable at all.

Psst! Psst! My mind called my attention,
Don’t entertain your emotional heart!
Love a person whom you think is brilliant,
And willing to be with you in this wise, wild, world.

Hmmp! Hmmp! My hypothalamus reacted,
Just listen to my advice.
Give yourself to a person, who can accept you,
No matter who and what you are.

The song of a Mother

Treasured are the hours I spent with you
here in my bosom I have carried you
you have grown swiftly barely i noticed
Now you tower above me, I feel so blessed.

Kisses and hugs, laughter and tears
All these my children, together we shared
At times you were sick I could hardly sleep
Never would I allow harm to come as you rest.

Successes and failures you and i have achieved
All these I held so dear in my memory I kept
My heart now goes out to you as I try to reach
To touch each one of you for I am going to rest.

I know full well I wasn't that good
A mother for you to be forever treasured
My own little angels I wish I could hold back
The determined hand of death, the power I lack.

As i close my eyes and lie down on my bed
Gather round me, my children, let me see all your faces.
Don't ever forget me and the lessons I gave
I will wait for you in heaven for now I shall sleep.

I am a Potter

I am a potter, my students are the clay
my hands mold the clay into I want it to be.
For the clay to be fashioned it has to cooperate with me
to be honed into something it has to be one with me.

I am a potter, God has meant me to be
Though my hands are not as beautiful and as skilful as they  should be
Every clay I fashion has a purpose and a mission
to help me realize his will and vision.
